PK Rewards requires certain app permissions to function properly. These permissions include Location Services, access to Motion & Fitness sensors, and access to read & write to platform-specific health repositories (Apple Health, Google Fit and/or Samsung Health).
This FAQ provides some important context and background for the permissions we require, how we use them, and how we protect your sensitive and personal data.
How we use the access that is granted
Permission to access Location Services enables PK Rewards to access GPS location data. This data is used to calculate and derive a user’s effort score during a workout (i.e. a user’s speed and elevation changes during their workout). We also use the location of a user to customize the user experience such as curating offers based on a user’s location. Finally, GPS data is used to create route maps for certain types of exercises. Location data, including route maps, are not accessible in PK Rewards by anyone other users on the platform.
Motion & Fitness Sensors
PK Rewards requires access and utilizes a variety of motion and fitness sensors in your mobile phone and/or watch to derive a user’s effort score during a workout. These sensors may include but are not limited to an Accelerometer, a Gyroscope, a Compass, a Barometer, a Pedometer, and others. We use these sensors to calculate and derive a user’s effort score during a workout.
PK Rewards supports a broad ecosystem of health and fitness apps and devices. Simply put, this means that we try very hard to “play nicely” with other fitness apps and devices. Integrating with a platform’s health repository enables PK Rewards to both import data from other apps and devices as well as making the data that our app creates available to other apps. This is most generally accomplished by relying on the device-specific health repository for functions such as importing workouts from other apps, accessing heart rate from connected devices, and updating progress in other apps that track a user’s overall workout activity.
Information Visible to other Users on PK Rewards
User accounts can be “public” (the default) or “private”. User profiles ARE ALWAYS VISIBLE to other users on PK Rewards regardless of account type. Workout effort details such as a workout’s effort zones graph and detailed effort graphs are ONLY VISIBLE FOR PUBLIC ACCOUNTS.
Detailed workout statistics (distance, pace, time, calories, etc…), maps (when applicable), and split times (when applicable) are NEVER VISIBLE to other users on PK Rewards, regardless of whether the account is public or private.
